Cumulated revenues of the pure SVOD players among the top 100 audiovisual companies in Europe quadrupled between 2016 and 2020, comprising 7% of cumulated revenues for the top 100 at the end of 2020, the European Audiovisual Observatory revealed.
Europe produces around 220 titles, 5.200 episodes and 830 hours of animation TV content each year, with France and the United Kingdom dominating the European animation scene, according to the European Audiovisual Observatory.
According to the European Audiovisual Observatory, for the 2010 – 2020 period (when the European Union sill included the UK), the paid VOD markets saw SVOD and TVOD revenues increasing from €388.8 million in 2010 to €11.6 billion in 2020.
A total of 12.659 unique European TV seasons were available on VOD in Europe, and of these 12.309 had a European country as main producer, according to the European Audiovisual Observatory’s Lumiere VOD.
Between 2015 and 2018, only 22% of directors of European feature films were women, according to a recent report from The European Audiovisual Observatory.
